Don't get your hopes up to much about this spray gun. When I originally purchased it, I had visions of spraying the walls and leaving a beautiful texture, with lightning speed...finishing rooms in a matter of minutes. However, in reality, this is not the case...or atleast was not for me. The gun does certanly speed things up though. First tape everything up (trim, windows, door frames, ceiling, etc), then cut in with a brush. This all has to be done before you even think about spraying...and cut in extra wide, say 3-4 inches, to allow yourself some space to spray. Be sure to use a drop cloth..and cover every inch of floor. The sprayer crates a cloud of paint, which gets on everything. If you have furniture in the room, move it out. If you can't, cover every inch of it.
Once all of this is done, you can begin spraying. Follow the instructions and spray with a stiff wrist (do not spray at an angle). I did 3 rooms and tried different speeds and patterns with the sprayer, but no matter how I did it, the texture and coat was not as good as a roller. I basically ended up spraying a wall, and then grabbing a roller with barely any paint on it, to go back over what I just sprayed. This was still quicker than rolling the entire room the traditional way, but not the time saver i originally anticipated.
My house was vacant and my floors were hardwood and easy to clean, so I didn't have to worry about the over-spray too much. If you have carpet or furniture...Be extremely meticulous about covering everything!
PS...wear a mask, or you'll be breathing a cloud of paint.
